Tapioszele Emmer wheat is a Hungarian landrace. It is notable for a high protein content (16.5% – 19%) and disease resistance. It is a fall planted winter wheat that reaches a height of about 4 foot tall. I had minor issues with lodging and it performed well in a season with brutally cold winter temperatures (polar vortex of 2019) and extremely wet conditions in the spring and summer. This variety is also tolerant of dry conditions as well. The overall yield and grain quality was quite good. Emmer wheat has a tight hull which needs to be removed before milling or consumption.
