I trialled a number of spring planted, landrace, durum wheat varieties from the Republic of Georgia this season. This unnamed variety (PI 78809), entered into the USDA NPGS in 1929, was by far the best yielding and had the best grain fill. I obtained my initial trial seed from the USDA. One other, Kreik Bogda, produced quality seed but with a very low yield. It is a facultative variety and I will be trialing it out again as a fall planted durum.
