This was one of two einkorn wheat varieties sent to me from a friend in Italy last winter (2017). The seed he sent me was collected from a farm in the Balkans. I am hoping to get more specific information regarding this strain. I planted this spring and got a modest amount of seed. I am sure this variety would do best as a fall planted wheat although einkorn is facultative (can be spring or fall planted). The plant grew to 40″ in height with a fair amount of tillers. Einkorn is sold with the hulls intact.
*I am offering this seed for the purpose of preservation. This variety will need selection and adaptation to improve grain fill, yield and disease resistance.
Below is a comparison of einkorn varieties. The KUSA einkorn is my standard variety I have been growing for 5 seasons.
