This is a landrace soup pea from Italy. It is also known as “Black pea from L’ago”, in the Province of La Spezia, Italy. The black refers to the characteristic black spot on the hilum. The peas themselves range in color from brown to brownish green. I obtained my seed from a seed exchange with Max Nunziata of Italy.
This pea grows fairly tall reaching 6 foot in height and needs good support. I planted in early spring on March 26th and harvested the dry peas on July 10th (106 days).
