Thai Upland Rice

This is a landrace medium grain variety from Thailand. It was entered into the USDA NPGS in 1991 with the identifying # 585047. Whereas many rice varieties from SE Asia are day length sensitive, this one appears to be day length neutral. It began flowering 55 days after transplanting and was harvested 95 days after transplanting at the end of August. The plants reached 3 1/2 foot in height and had minimal problems with lodging. This is a fully awned variety, medium grained variety with good yields at 9 pounds of paddy per 100 square foot (100 plants average).
