Okuro Mochi Upland Rice (Japanese landrace medium-grain)

Okuro Mochi is a Japanese upland landrace variety with 9.5 % protein and good yields. It was entered into the USDA NPGS in 1947. The plants reached 3 1/2 foot tall and had no issues with lodging. The plants began flowering 65 days from transplanting in late May and were harvested on September 22nd (123 days from transplanting). Okuro Mochi is an awnless. medium grained variety. The yield was 8 1/2 pounds per 100 square foot bed (approx. 100 plants).

I will be adding a flavor profile sometime this winter.
