Italica Ooba is a cultivar developed in Poland prior to 1960’s. It is a medium grained, awnless variety. The plants reached 3 foot in height and had minimal issues with lodging. Flowering started 53 days after transplanting and harvest was completed 94 days after transplanting in late August. This makes Italica Ooba a early maturing variety with a yield of 7 pounds of paddy per 100 square foot (approx. 100 plants).
Good but mild flavor and made great non-sticky rice after polishing. Would be great for Spanish Rice and Fried Rice.
