Ego Wase Upland Rice (Japanese landrace medium-grain)

Ego Wase is medium-grain brown upland rice from Japan. This is a landrace variety entered into the USDA NPGS in 1947. The plants reach a height of 3 1/2 foot and had no issues with lodging. The plants began flowering on July 22nd at 61 days from transplanting in late May. The grain was harvested on September 7th (108 days from transplanting). Ego Wase yielded 5 1/2 pounds of paddy from 100 square foot of bed space (approx. 100 plants).

I will be adding a flavor profile sometime over the winter.
