Chikanari 2 Upland Rice (Japanese cultivar)

Chikanari 2 is a short growing upland cultivar developed in Yamagata, Northern Japan. It was entered into the USDA NPGS in 1955. The plants began flowering 53 days after transplanting at the end of May and were harvested September 1st (102 days from transplanting. Chianari 2 is a very compact plant reaching 2 foot in height and had no issues with lodging. This is a awnless short grain variety with a yield of 5 pounds of paddy per 100 square foot bed (approx. 100 plants).

I will be adding a flavor profile sometime this winter.
