I trialed this peanut in 2020 and found it to be very much a runner, creating a thick carpet of vines close to the ground. The peanuts began maturing in late September and my overall yield was very small. I plan to continue growing this variety and hopefully selecting for earliness. In the winter of 2020 I received some of Nat Bradford’s selection for this variety. He has been working to improve vigor, disease resistance and yields through selection over a period of six years. I will be adding his seed to my grow-outs this spring (2021). The Carolina African Runner has a rich peanuty flavor compared to modern varieties. It also has a very high oil content.
