Saagir oats is an Estonian variety. The original seed stock was sent to me from Estonia a few years ago. 2018 was my first trial of this oat. I have little historical data about this variety. It was spring planted and matured in 107 days. The plants have strong stems and wide leaves. They are 4′ tall and had very minor issues with lodging during periods of heavy rainfall. This is a hulled type, and is very similar to the other Estonian oat I have, called Varajane.
