Blackheart Barley

Blackheart barley is a 2 row hulled variety that is extremely ornamental in appearance. The plants are bushy with many grain bearing tillers (20 or more) and reach a height of 4 foot. I was surprised that these tall plants had minimal lodging issues during periods of heavy rainfall. The grain heads have long black awns and blackish-blue hulls.
